Las Lloronas

The gentle thud of fishing boats swaying in the harbour, the eternal brightness of Southern seas and the rain-soaked melancholy of the North: Las Lloronas paints an endless string of images with just a pair of instruments and voices. A dreamy guitar, plaintive clarinet, velvety altos and touching harmonies merge into a delicious polyphonic symbiosis. Whether they play their own intimate, multilingual feminist poetry, Sephardic lullabies or Bach transcripts, they take you on a soaring lyrical journey.
Only 5 years ago, the trio Las Lloronas were working on their first album, Soaked. Since then, the group has released a second album, Out of the Blue, and played hundreds of concerts in Europe and beyond. The group won the award for ‘Best Live Performance’ at the Belgian Worldwide Music Awards 2024 and were very well received by international press and on national radios of Belgium, Spain, Poland, France, Germany…
With Sura Solomon having decided to take time out to develop other projects, the trio has evolved into a duo. Marieke Werner and Amber in ‘t Veld are working on new songs for their next album, carrying on with the typical ingredients of Las Lloronas: beautiful polyphonic voices, poetic, powerful multilingual lyrics and as always, strongly inspired by the emotional rawness of traditional music.
