Open Call

✹ We’re moving!
Kollektiv Kaorle is an interdisciplinary cultural association from Vienna. Since 2020 we’ve been creating shared spaces for art, craftsmanship, exchange, and social engagement with around 70 members by now.
Learn more about how we work & what we’ve done so far
We operate at the intersection of artistic practice, cultural production, and everyday life. We build, design, discuss and share tools, knowledge, and responsibility. We create and curate spaces and formats that enable collaborative learning, design, and experimentation. We fill gaps – spatially and structurally – and turn them into places of exchange, production, and solidarity. Not as a finished concept, but as a process that develops through action.
Our first Kollektiv Kaorle space was located from 2020 to 2023 in a 🔗 street-level space in Vienna’s 6th district. It included a seminar room, co-working space, recording studio, wood, metal and ceramics workshops, a café, and a small community oasis (Schmalzhofgasse). In spring 2023, we 🔗 relocated to Ottakring (16th district), where we expanded our infrastructure to include artist studios, rehearsal rooms, an event space with a bar, and our Lido – a versatile venue we’ll continue using until the end of our interim lease in September 2025 (https://kollektiv-kaorle.at/projects/lido). Curious what else we’ve been up to over the past five years? Take a look 🔗 here.
In October 2025, we will move on into Pavilion 21 in the Otto Wagner area and open it to new collaborators and ideas. We offer space to individuals or groups who are motivated to creatively animate, co-create, and further develop this new place.

✹ Who can apply?

Whether fine art, music, design, social work, or transdisciplinary research, we are open to diverse practices. It is important that you want to be part of a place of solidarity where space, knowledge, and resources are shared. We are looking for individuals and groups who want to be part of this process. In general, we encourage the formation of (studio/workshop) communities.
We are particularly interested in applications from FLINTA*, BIPoC, structurally disadvantaged individuals, and groups that bring intersectional perspectives and diverse expressions.
Further information on membership + membership fee:
- All tenants join the Kollektiv Kaorle. The club thrives on the active participation of all members in collective activities as well as the maintenance and design of the collective premises. In group applications, each person signs up for their own membership.
- The payment of a membership fee is mandatory for all tenants (in addition to the room rent). This is self-determined according to a solidarity model based on your financial means. The guideline is approximately €40 per month (a detailed orientation guide on the amount of the fee will follow before the membership is completed).
- Our members organize themselves in various room-teams, which are responsible for the organization and administration of the different areas (so far, there are the Team Wood and Metal Workshop, Team Ceramic Studio, Team Bar and Event Room, Team Outdoor and Community Areas, among others). Additionally, more working groups will be formed.
- mutual learning and spontaneous synergies, discussions, and exchange, which are enriched by the diversity of the members' disciplines and profiles.
- to help shape and further develop the structures, premises, and program.
- to be involved in the production of events by the Kollektiv Kaorle and to initiate formats themselves.
✹ Application process
To apply for a room, fill out 🔗 this form by August 15, 2025.
✹ Selection process

The selection is made internally by a group of club members. We consider, among other factors:
- Interest in communal practice
- A balanced composition of various disciplines
- Consideration of structurally disadvantaged applicants and diversity
✹ Policy of respect
Kollektiv Kaorle takes a clear stance against any form of verbal, sexualized, physical, and psychological violence. There is no room in our spaces for racist, anti-Semitic, sexist, ableist, or otherwise discriminatory behavior.
Any questions? If so, send us an email to post@kollektiv-kaorle.at with the subject "Open Call OWA".
We look forward to your application and to filling Pavilion 21 together! ⛵️
